I'm a weight watcher

Here's the thing about exercising to lose weight. Exercising makes you not want to eat all the bad stuff so that results show. And not exercising does not allow you to eat. Because you aren't working it out anyway.

I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with the whole weight loss thing. But this it is on my mind a lot. I do want to lose a couple of pounds. I do eat food that isn't healthy.

If I did really want to avoid, I would have to stop eating/drinking the following
milk, tea, coffee, chutney, chips, masala dosa, samosas, french fries, puri, gulab jamun, kaju katli, chocolate burfi, dahi puri, paani puri, fried chicken, fried fish, bicuits, kheer, chocolates, icecream, rice, curd, egg,

Yeah yeah I can drink low fat milk and low fat curd and black sugarless coffee and sugarless tea. But I do not have a personal dietician and a cook who would do all that for me. So I do eat all of that.

But I am conscious whenever I eat any of those things. I don't enjoy it a hundred percent.

I do not remember a time when I did not want to lose weight. When I realized what fat was and that I was it, I wanted to lose weight. I actually did do something about it  and I lost quite a bit. But for how long? My father was also like this. Even he does not remember a time when he didn't want to lose weight. Since 9th he says. I have looked at childhood pictures of my dad and he was really skinny back then. So what now?

I will always want to lose weight. I never will. Also, I will never get to eat all that stuff without feeling guilty.

And this is my story

I did not want Infosys. Infosys is not my dream. It was, way back in 9th when I had gone for a training programme from school.

Not now.

I do not want to compromise on my dream. I know Infosys will not make me happy. Whatever I know from Infosys is hearsay, true. But I don't like what I hear. I want a company that will encourage growth, respect individuality and above all trust its employees.

I'm not looking for money right now. I am looking for job profile and work satisfaction. Tata was a dream. Infosys was not. As simple as that. When on my priority list, I check other companies off and do realize that I will never be able to do better than Infosys, I will accept that and make the most of it. But not right now.

MindTree is tomorrow and I'm writing.

Yes, placements happened.

22nd September 2011, 8:30 am. We are all set. Three hundred and sixty well groomed, nervous candidates are in Sambhram, the AC auditorium of our college. People are studying, checking their certificates, memorizing syntax es and efficiencies. The aptitude and interviews are going to start by 9am.

There is a little rearranging and discrimination. The toppers are asked to occupy the front seats and those who have to give their aptitude exam are to sit on the last rows. Soon enough, the people who have to give their tests are escorted to the computer labs.

At 12:30 pm, there is a little uneasiness in the room. Students are a little concerned. When will they actually start the interviews? When will they end? Will it go on till 1 am like the placement officer predicted? TCS does make their students wait a little. But never for more than an hour. What is this?

The aptitude students come back to the chilly AC hall and take their seats. Word spreads that they haven't given their exam yet. Worried expressions everywhere. The placement officer and our lecturer enter from the backdoor of the auditorium.

Without cutting to the chase, they announce that TCS will go back empty handed. The 21 interviewers and the team will not conduct a single interview. Our college has violated the company policy and TCS doesn't like it at all.

Mixed reactions all over the place. Students begin to cry. A guy starts shivering. Most get angry. Really angry. A lot of students speak. Yes, the same set of students who had nothing to ask the companies but their 'package offered' when they had come for their pre placement talks.

"Whose fault was it?", "We chose TCS. We want TCS.", "Why was the college this irresponsible with our future? We trusted you and you do this to us?", "Why weren't things communicated well?", "Aren't 300 students more than a little piece of policy?", "If you know that we are the best, they why don't you take us?", "Just conduct your interviews and take people who deserve it. You cannot go back like this."

The more positive, optimistic and hopeful voices were overpowered by the angry crowd. Nobody was willing to see what could be done instead. What our alternatives were.

The placement officer said that she'll talk to the Infosys people and ask them to consider us.

They did.

Suljhi Hui Ladki

The most wonderful thing happened to me. I was having breakfast with Pixie. Pixie is a friend. Not a close friend. But more than an acquaintance. We have our placements tomorrow and we are trying for different companies. I was just telling her to be positive and that hard work reaps benefits in the end, no matter what. Suddenly, she became all quiet. With tears in her eyes, she said that she really enjoys talking to me.  She said that I was her role model.

ROLE MODEL! ME! Eeeeee! Now, when she said that, I wanted to jump out of my chair and dance around for a bit. But then I smiled at Pixie and thanked her. She explained why she looked up to me. She said that I was a 'suljha hua girl'. Whenever things weren't going so good for her, she remembered me. She thought of how positive I was. How simple and happy I  made everything seem. That made her feel better and helped her deal with things.

I am so happy. I have always wanted to touch a few lives, influence a couple of people. I don't live for it, yes. But when it does happen, it feels great. Especially because it is so unexpected.

Placements are tomorrow and I will be posting about that next. Praying and wishing for the best, I sign of for now.

This post is dedicated to Shatabdi, for making me blog again.

Out with the old. In with the new.

People are so judgmental. It is so fucking irritating. YES, I said the F-word. Why do you follow me on twitter read my blog and then gossip about me? If you have an opinion, tell ME. Not my friends. Not your friends. Me.
My parents are worried that my employers may look at this. And do what? I do not know. But they worry that I have a blog. Sigh.
I will be back with a new handle. And you won't be able to track me.

Yes, I did it.

"You cannot cook! Don't blame me when your mother in law complains! I tried teaching you! You don't want to learn! I have given up on you! Just a couple more months! I'll cook in this house till your next birthday! After that, you're on your own! Your dad too. Nobody helps he around here. I'm sick of being the maid servant of this house!"

(That's my mom.)

*Grumpy voice* No, I'm almost done. I don't need any help.
(That's my mom when she is in ANY stage of the cooking process.)

Yeah, big deal. She cooked once. I cook everyday. Don't fuss over her too much. You spoil her.
(That's her when I cook when she is at home)

Why don't you cook for me too. Even I want to put up my feet. You be me for a change. Why do you have to cook only when I am away?
(That's her when I cook when she is not around)

It is a lose-lose-lose-lose situation. Don't get me wrong. I love my mom and I love her food. Also, I definetly cannot do even a half of how much she does!

But every once in a while I like to prove to myself that push comes to shove, I can manage a house. Well, the cooking bit atleast.

So this weekend, I cooked. I soaked stuff and made dosas in the morning. I have never made them from scratch before. They came out fluffy and nice, I must say! =) In the afternoon I made curry, and daal (again a first) and rice. They were pretty decent as well.

I need a book by  my side, yes. But I can cook. It's not some exam. I don't need to know everything by heart.

I'm proud of myself.
