The little lamps, the fairy lights and the infinite number of sweets are an added bonus.
This is what happened today.
Got up. Checked blog
(notice how facebook is replaced by blogger now, thanks to all you awesome people commenting
). Brushed teeth.Breakfast, followed by more blogging and facebooking.
Then, the oil bath. It is basically what it sounds like. You have to massage a thin film of oil all over your body and then wash it off with steaming hot water (preferably have someone to do it for you).
Apparently this was one of the ‘romantic’ things people looked forward to. A couple of decades ago. People used to get to live in big joint families where privacy was not an option. So once a year, during Diwali, the wife would do this for her kids and then her husband. Which gave her time to talk to him (this time was used to complain mostly, but still, somehow, it comes under romantic).
Getting back to topic, the results are best if you do the oil massage and then soak some sun for an hour or two. Then the H–O–T bath. Then go sleep on the bed, under a fan revolving at high speed. I slept. For five hours straight. :)
Watched a movie.

Then we went to the firework display. Manipal is a small town. Almost the entire town comes down to watch this 45minute firework display. I never miss it. It is waaay too much fun when so many people do something together. That is the key– togetherness. Which is why I like festivals. And marathons.
I wish you all a very happy, safe and fun Deepavali.
PS: Deceptive title. I know. Mwhahahahahaha
