Go Buffalo, Go. Or Stay. :P

I witnessed my first Kambala today!! :

Kambala is traditionally a simple sport. The 'track' used for Kambala is a paddy field filled with slush. The contest generally takes place between two pairs of buffaloes, controlled by a whip-lashing farmer. In olden days, the winning pair of buffaloes were rewarded with coconuts and a bunch of plantains. But, Kambala today has become an organised, professional sport. People place massive amounts of bets on the winning buffaloes.

It was held practically next to my house- near my favourite hideout- the lake. It was so eventful!!

I hadn't even heard of a Kambala till I saw the posters and banners put up all over town.

The bufalloes aren't treated that well. They are whipped and angered so that they run the whole stretch.

The slushy mud flying everywhere- That was fun!!

After that, there was this tribal dance thing that we watched.

It was a first for me.

At 1:31 in the AM

You feel that time has stopped, at 1:31 am.

Everything is so much more peaceful, at 1:31 am.

The moon looks so beautiful, at 1:31 am.

You wonder what the meaning of life is, at 1:31 am.

You realise you don't really care what the meaning of life is, at 1:31 am.

You get a bedhead without actually sleeping, at 1:31 am.

You want to watch kfp SO BAD, at 1:31 am.

You realise you should have made that midnight call, at 1:31 am.

You aren't guilty of waking your friend up, at 1:31 am.

You get all perky and hyper without coffee, at 1:31 am.

You have interesting stories to tell, at 1:31 am.

You get to hear awesome stories which make your interesting stories sound a total drab, at 1:31 am.

You aren't insulted that easy, at 1:31 am.

You come up with the wittiest lines, at 1:31 am.

Your cellphone battery dies, at 1:31 am.

You begin recharging the battery and continue talking away and don't worry that someone actually died doing that, at 1:31 am.

You just have to pee in the middle of a phonecall, at 1:31 am.

You need to know what song that was and cannot continue the conversation without that vital information, at 1:31 am.

You get the hottest gossip in town, at 1:31 am.

You get all emotional and senti, at 1:31 am.

You just wanna keep talking and not hang up, at 1:31 am.

You realise that time hasn't ACTUALLY stopped and it is 3:00 am.........at 1:31 am.

When Facebook blocked me.....

My college already has a Facebook group. It is as good as dead, though. The owner is either dead (in which case, may his soul R.I.P) or kidnapped by aliens. BECAUSE NOONE CAN BE TOO BUSY TO FACEBOOK!! Especially if one can create a group which has 288 members and be silly enough not to appoint officers or administrators!!

I tried to revive the group. But you can’t do much, really when you don’t have access to the ‘message all members’ option.

So I proceeded to plan B. I made another group. But the question was- How to get people to know that another group exists? So, I started sending out individual invites to the members. I did write on the wall even, but who checks a dead group for new wallposts anyway?

I had barely invited forty people, when a “Slow down, or you are going to hit a block” message started flashing.

I stopped. Then I replied to some pending inbox messages.

I sent fifty messages yesterday. Now Facebook has temporarily blocked me from sending messages.

I visited the FAQ page.

Unfortunately, Facebook cannot provide any specifics on the rate limits that we enforce.”

Please note that even if all of your conversations were legitimate interactions with friends, our message service is not a chat client, and should not be treated as such.”

I can’t mail anyone right now. I was chatting on the Facebook chat yesterday and I started getting the “Slow down, or you are going to hit a block” message there too!!

So, basically, I’m ARGHed out right now.

No message, no chat. I don’t know when this stinko ban will be lifted, even. When it is, if it is, I am supposed to ‘proceed with my site activity at a slower rate so as to avoid hitting another block or having my account disabled.’

Account disabled?? WTH?? It IS a social networking site, isn’t it??

Kids: They dance before they learn there is anything that isn't music

I am sharing something that happened to me once.

A story of how a little girl totally made my day....

Back in school, we used to travel by the school bus.
I used to carry this little girl on my lap. She was in the third standard and me, in ninth.
She used to tell me stuff- what her teacher thought of people biting their nails, what the naughty little boy in her class did, how her mum did not like the little puppy that she fed, what she had packed in her tiffin box that day.. Basically, everything.

I used to listen. I loved being the 'elder sister'.

Every time I met her at school, I used to go over and talk.. When you are a little kid and a senior comes and talks to you, in front of your friends, it makes you feel important. I could see the little glint in her eyes.
But I did it because I was grateful to her. For telling me everything. I was glad that I could be the one, who got to listen to her cute little rants. She used to show me to her mum, from outside the bus almost every single day and wave as the bus went away.

One day, she got into the bus. I helped her out with her bag, her water bottle. She sat down and shook her tiny little butt and got comfortable on my lap. She was holding something. When I asked her if she would show me her little secret, she slowly opened her closed hands, and there was a flower in there. She extended her hands and told me that she had picked it up for me, on her way to the bus stop. It was the first flower I had gotten in my life. It was given to me with so much love and thought and care. I was touched.
I still have that pressed flower in my diary.

I thank God for little children. Their innocence and sweetness.

This post is for all the children in the world, specially, to my dear little sweety pie . For that cute little gesture which I will never forget. The one for which I will be ever grateful.

Nothing is stagnant. Even the entropy of our universe constantly increases.

Time. It never comes back, does it? It just leave these tracks behind. Irrespective of whether you want it or not. Only change is constant in the larger scheme of things. I still haven't gotten used to the idea. Good or bad, the fact has to be accepted.

I spoke to my friend from school last night. We had real fun talking. The chemistry/gelling was very much there. But I realize that we can't spend as much time together as I want to.

We had classes in a different room yesterday. The board was green, there were five rows instead of four and the view was splendid. That was good, for a change.

But time changes you as well.

I remember some really stupid things I have done. I can't go back in time and change that. I wish I had acted more sensitive/caring/forgiving at times.
It is out of my hands now.

All I can hope for is for people to realize that I am different now and things, (un)surprisingly have changed. Also hope I am wise enough to realize when they change. I am really grateful to all those who stuck with me through thick and thin. Accepted my apologies, if I gave any, after the mistakes I had done. Parents and relatives do count in this, but not as much as friends do. Friends aren't obliged to stay in my life after I've bullshitted them, or make me feel better. Most do. I can't tell the ones who don't aren't my friends. They are just different. But I'm thankful for the ones who do. Because they are helping me change. For the better, so that I will be prepared, when times change.

This one is for you, bff. This is the least I could do for you.

Crap and its VERY opposite

They are cutting down trees everywhere out here!
To build flats, supermarkets and the like.
They have even chopped off a long stretch of trees on either side of the road, in front of my house. It took so many years to grow those. And so much time to care for.
Now, when I look out of my bedroom window, all I can see are bunches of dead leaves and bits of uprooted trunks.
It is a little depressing. *sniff*

This picture just about captures the joy in me when I read your comments.

Thankyou.
All of you.
For visiting. For reading. For commenting. I check my mail at odd hours of the day and I'm never disappointed! . Do believe me when I say odd.
I actually saw the tracker showing '5 online' today. No, I did NOT have five windows of my blog open!!

Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
